A Year In Review Where is Per

On June 2nd, 2013 I was sitting in the United lounge at Newark airport about to fly to the south of France for a summer of studying (read as wine drinking, dancing & tanning). It was my second time going to live abroad, but this time it was for 3 months instead of 6 weeks like the first time I went to study (read as skiing, beer drinking & aprés skiing) in the French alps of Chamonix.

Saying goodbye to the US. 2014.

-- FAST FORWARD ONE YEAR --

On June 2nd, 2014 I was sitting in the United lounge at Newark airport watching planes land and depart all day wondering where everyone was traveling to. I was on my way to live in a city I had never heard of to work at a company I really knew not much about.

— FAST FORWARD ANOTHER YEAR —

I guess life always works out how it is supposed to, because it is now June 2nd, 2015 and that city I had never heard of is a place I now call home (Dusseldorf), and that company I really didn't know much about is now apart of my daily life with people who I can now call my trivago family. A funny thing happens when you move away from everything you know. A sense of vulnerability kicks in which enables you to do things you probably wouldn't. It could be talking to strangers, eating dinner alone, exploring more - who knows.

Either way, it has been a year since I moved across the world to Germany. First off, where the hell does the time go?  Secondly, I am currently sitting in my (new) favorite coffee shop listening to a language I still don't know - sorry germans - as I think about the past year and all of the adventures I have been able to experience, and more importantly the people who I have been able to laugh with along the way.

Within the last year WHERE IS PER has been read in 6 continents, 127 countries and over 2300 cites. It baffles me that people want to read my grammatically incorrect stories, watch my “uniquely” shot videos, or scroll through my photos. But I guess the point is to inspire you to travel. I hope everyone gets the chance to visit somewhere new as often as possible.

Here are a few of my favorite travel moments from the past year.
